Yes, I'm voting for Obama! More than that, I'm a Democratic delegate in my precinct for him which means that I have to be at some county convention this weekend at 9 AM in the morning. Brutal.
I always vote but this is the first time that I've gotten more involved with the political process than that. Never attended a caucus before. I was told the one in my district was packed as never before. The process was a lot like taxes: needlessly complex, confusing and it's little wonder more people don't get involved. Whatever our system of government actually is, it's not actually a democracy.
The only candidate I wanted to vote for before was Bill Clinton in 1996. I voted for Gore and Kerry because they were the lesser of two evils, the greater evil in both cases being, of course, Dubya Bush.
But Obama is really cool the way Clinton was. He's intelligent, competent, reassuring and doesn't come off snobby. When he makes a mistake he gracefully and humbly cops to it. The president is our world representative and I want someone who other leaders can like, who doesn't piss them off or make us the laughing stock of the free world. I really liked Bill Richardson too but he just didn't have the star power to get the attention he needed for this kind of contest.
Hillary Clinton may well have the skills and experience but she is just too naggy-bitchy to me. Someone who lacks the charisma to be able to inspire people and bring them to an accord is not going to be a very good leader. Look no further than the current president for that.
This video of Obama was shot by my sister at St. Peters College, New Jersey.
